We are inviting GP practices across the East Midlands to take part in the Ovarian Protect Programme, a Clinician-led initiative delivered in partnership with East and West Midlands Cancer Alliance (EMCA, WMCA) and ECLIPSE to support earlier identification of ovarian cancer in primary care.

Ovarian cancer remains one of the most challenging cancers to detect early, with the majority of cases diagnosed at a late stage due to non-specific symptoms. This programme is designed to support you in identifying patients at increased risk sooner, using a validated risk model applied to routinely collected GP data, alongside targeted patient symptom questionnaires.

Participating practices will receive a prioritised list of patients identified as higher risk, along with a clear and streamlined approach to review and triage. The programme will:

• Support clinical decision-making
• Enable timely investigation or referral where appropriate
• Improve patient outcomes.

This is a valuable opportunity to be part of a data-driven, population health approach to cancer detection while supporting delivery of key NHS priorities. Practices have until Wednesday 14 October 2026 to sign up to the pilot. The pilot ends on Thursday 1 April 2027.
