Finding Hope After Cancer

Jason, 54, was diagnosed with HPV-related tonsil cancer on Christmas Eve 2021—a moment that changed his life overnight. Just two days later, on Boxing Day, he underwent scans and had his tonsils removed, marking the start of an intense treatment journey.

Jason faced radiotherapy and chemotherapy, but complications arose. A blockage in his heart caused it to stop, leading to a life-saving procedure unlike anything attempted in the UK before. A specialist machine was flown in from the United States, and surgeons worked under guidance from American clinicians to perform the radical treatment.

The road to recovery was tough. Radiotherapy affected Jason’s ability to eat, and he lost around five stone in weight. But through resilience and determination, he fought back.

Speaking candidly and honestly about his cancer journey, Jason says: “There is hope after cancer. When caught early, cancer doesn’t have to be a death sentence. I feel fitter and stronger than ever—and proud to have beaten cancer.”
