It was a very proud moment for us to see all the hard work that’s gone into getting project COMPASS off the ground showcased on regional television. As the first Cancer Alliance nationally to go live with testing, this achievement highlights the innovation, collaboration and dedication that made this pioneering programme possible, and is a testament to everyone involved 👏

💊 Project COMPASS is an NHS Cancer Programme and SBRI funded pilot, using Endosign capsule sponge test in high street pharmacies to help identify oesophageal conditions earlier in people with persistent heartburn.

📍 Across Nottingham, Derby, Kirkby-In-Ashfield and Mansfield, selected Boots stores and independent pharmacies have already tested 79 patients, with 25 being sent for further investigation. These early results highlight the value of making cancer tests more accessible, convenient and closer to home 🏡

💬 The BBC piece also shared Carmen’s story. After living with heartburn for many years, Carmen decided to have the test and commended both the service and the pharmacy staff. While she thankfully received the all clear, the reassurance and peace of mind the test gave her has been life changing.

✅ If you are aged 45+, experiencing persistent heartburn or acid reflux, and are local to Nottingham, Derby, Kirkby-In-Ashfield or Mansfield, speak to a participating pharmacy from the list in the video about whether a capsule sponge test is right for you.
