Systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) encompasses treatments like chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies that use medications that circulate through the bloodstream and target cancer cells throughout the body.

We will be focussing on reducing the variation in treatment patients may receive dependent on where they access treatment. Our goal is to ensure that everyone receives the same care and treatment wherever they access it within the East Midlands.

To achieve this, we will:

  • Identify a named clinical lead and group for each tumour site and ensure there is enough project management and analytical support for the work.
  • Lead engagement activities with Trusts and Clinical Groups to identify areas for improvement by reviewing the available data.
  • Offer tailored support and work specifically with Trusts not meeting the national targets for SACT to develop improvement plans.
