Understanding how people are experiencing cancer services can help direct improvements to services. We strive to maintain a consistent approach to community engagement, ensuring that a diverse range of voices are heard and incorporated into all work programmes we lead.

To do this we will:

  • Identify a Involvement and Engagement lead within our own Alliance team.
  • Build and maintain links with senior management responsible for improving patient experience within our providers.
  • Work with our Trusts to understand the reasons behind why not all patients complete the experience surveys they receive and identify barriers and motivators that may encourage this.
  • Encourage our Trusts to complete their own engagement and involvement activities to ensure a diverse range of voices are heard and listened to.
  • Lead a Cancer Experience of Care Improvement Collaborative to spread learning and improvements in cancer care across our footprint.
  • Monitor the representation in our own patient engagement groups and identify and address any gaps in the diversity of voices being heard.
  • Identify and support a patient to become a Patient and Public Voice Partner and engage with the National Cancer Programme.
