Prostate pathway

What is the programme and its aims?
The East Midlands Cancer Clinical Network aims to develop a standardised, integrated, evidence-based best practice pathway of care for patients with prostate cancers, which is available to all, no matter where they live.

Who are the partners?
We are working in close partnership with the local providers and clinical commissioning groups.

How are we making a difference?
The prostate best practice pathway enables timely access to patients to a standardised pathway of care, thereby reducing variation across the East Midlands.

What’s next?
The prostate pathway project will be delivered through defining high value integrated clinical pathway for prostate cancer (including earlier diagnosis and referral, treatment and follow-up/survivorship, thereby spanning primary and secondary care), developing cost model and activity for the pathway for commissioners based on a pathway currency, producing a report card for the pathway detailing structure, process and outcome measures to examine performance across the system and finally through developing a service specification for commissioners based on the best-practice clinical pathway.
